The 305 is Alive with groups that are organizing to oppose the current administration and authoritarian rule. Below is a partial list of political and non-partisan groups determined to save democracy. Find your people and gather. When WE gather, WE win.

National Organizations

Indivisible
Indivisible is a grassroots movement of thousands of local Indivisible groups with a mission to elect progressive leaders, rebuild our democracy, and defeat the Trump agenda.

National Constitution Center
Offers a variety of informative events, many online:  Town Hall discussions, podcasts, videos, Constitution 101, media library, and more.

Red Wine and Blue
Red Wine and Blue has lots of tips about how to organize in your community. Get ideas and even start your own chapter. So far, there are no chapters in Florida.

Sandra Day O’Connor Institute
Founded in 2009 by retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, the O’Connor Institute, a nonprofit, nonpartisan 501(c)(3), continues her distinguished legacy and lifetime work to advance American democracy through multigenerational civil discourse, civic engagement, and civics education. The Institute’s programs serve individuals of all ages from 50 states and six continents through educational digital platforms and events, as well as original research.

Swing Left
Let’s face it: Republicans in the House and Senate are terrified of defying Trump and that means, no congressional check on executive power. Check out Swing Left for ideas and information on how to win back the balance of power.

Organization of American Historians
The OAH seeks to be a public-facing, dynamic scholarly society—one that honors the accomplishments of previous generations while advancing and advocating for the study and practice of history today. This means growing OAH into a broad community for all historians and a hub, host, and incubator for rigorous and trusted U.S. history.

The Niagra Movement

W.E.B. Du Bois strongly advocated for the principles of the Declaration of Independence and applied them to the fight for racial equality and justice. He believed that Black Americans were true exponents of the human spirit of the Declaration and were striving for the same rights of freedom and equality outlined in the document. Du Bois also championed the idea of Pan-Africanism, believing that all people of African descent had common interests and should work together for their freedom.

The Declaration of Principles adopted by W.E.B. Du Bois proclaimed “We claim for ourselves every single right that belongs to a freeborn American, political, civil, and social life. This document defines the beliefs, demands and duties of the Niagara Movement.
